Protect Womens' Reproductive Rights
A clear commitment to protecting a woman’s right to choose, while expanding voluntary state support and incentives that make choosing life a real, supported option for families.
Government should never insert itself between a woman and her doctor. Decisions about pregnancy are deeply personal, medical, and complex — and they must remain free from political interference. I will sign no law and support no rule that impedes a woman’s right to choose.
At the same time, protecting freedom means ensuring that choice is real — not constrained by fear, financial pressure, or lack of support. Many women and families want to choose life, but face significant economic and practical barriers that make that decision far more difficult than it should be.
That is why my administration will support voluntary, non-coercive state incentives and services for women who choose to carry a pregnancy to term. These supports are not mandates, restrictions, or conditions on healthcare access. They are optional resources designed to expand opportunity — not limit it.
Supporting Choice Through Support, Not Coercion
When families choose life, the state can play a constructive role by offering practical assistance, including:
- Expanded access to prenatal and maternal healthcare
- Financial and workplace supports during pregnancy and early childhood
- Connections to childcare, housing stability, and family services
- Clear information about available resources, without pressure or judgment
These measures respect individual autonomy while recognizing the real-world challenges families face.
Freedom Means Dignity
True freedom means trusting women to make their own healthcare decisions — and ensuring they have the support they need, whichever path they choose. New Mexico can protect reproductive rights while also being a place where families who choose life are met with compassion, stability, and meaningful support.
This approach rejects government intrusion, preserves constitutional rights, and affirms that dignity, care, and choice can — and must — coexist.
